Nifty Little Fridge

When our main fridge (LG) broke down, I first offloaded as much food as I could with the neighbors then packed the fridge with ice to keep some food on hand so we wouldn't have to do take-out or peanut butter sandwiches for every meal. I soon discovered that LG wasn't going to get service out to us for some time and getting ice every day and dealing with the meltwater was getting to be a pain. It became apparent that we needed something for a fill-in to carry us through getting the kitchen fridge fixed. A mini-fridge was the answer. I looked online at a number of models and picked this one because of its capacity, freezer, appearance, price and because I could pick it up next day at a local store. At about 60 lbs., it was a little cumbersome for me to wrestle into my hatchback but two people could do it easily. I installed it in a niche in a guest room near the kitchen, leveled it, plugged it in and let it run. In several hours it was ready for business. I was impressed with how quickly it cooled down, how much I could put into it and how well it handled some larger-sized items. It was great for my purposes but I would have reservations about using it full-time...especially in a guest room. What I found that makes it less than perfect: (1) Setting the temperature is a little tricky --- there's a learning curve. When I got the temperature on the main shelves where I wanted, I found things on the bottom (like a bag of carrots) froze. (2) It started to frost up pretty quickly. I can see that defrosting would be a regular ritual. (3) While I wouldn't say it's noisy, it's not exactly quiet either. A bedroom may not be the best place for it. (4) The metal feet on a ceramic tile floor, coupled with its light weight and fairly strong magnetic seal, meant that if I didn't hold the fridge while I opened the door, the whole thing just slid on the floor.Any problems I had with this fridge were comparatively minor and could be accommodated or fixed in one way or another. All-in-all, it performed well, looks good, is reasonably priced and is Energy Star-rated. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a little fridge.
